A swim in winter...

We had our first swim in the ocean in six weeks today... just a dinky little one along Mona Vale beach to the cliffs, then we walked back along the sand. Felt good. We don't get enough exercise in winter, but this gave us a 1.6km swim and about an 800 metre walk back. We spend too much time sitting at a desk as a rule. Anyway, we had our new old GPS in a rubber bag sticky-taped onto our noggins, and here's where we went...
And here are a few mugs heading out through the rip by the rocks at Mona Vale...

  1. I hear Coogee Beach is good this time of year. On rainy and windy days, you can have the whole beach to yourself. The council lifeguards have fun with winter swimmers by publishing the water temp to one-thousandth of a degree (15.781c last week). Wetsuits are not necessary though, unlike those 2 warmbloods in the photo above.

  3. Lucky to be living in Qld .....we swim all year at Southport every Friday morning 7am - just a group of pals who are addicted. Visitors welcome if you are on the GC on holidays or work or whatever brings you here. Would like to join a swim when in Sydney for Coogee swim 28th - OK to introduce myself at South Cronulla?? Now looking forward to Hamilton Island, Pan Pacs, and Redcliffe.
Big Thank You to Point Lookout SLSC for looking after us at the Straddie Salute Unimin swim last weekend. The sweep was a killer and Dave and Greg and the crews had pick ups even before the first can.
