  1. Although freezing water temperature at Palmy I enjoyed getting into the water for the first of the ocean swims. Best destination in Sydney to start it. The organisers (SLSC of NSW) did a poor job on the day. I registered for a 2km swim and run and on the day was told there was no run, only a 2km swim. Picking up my timing ship I had attitude from one of the workers who said I'd start in the first group in the Open group however this contradicted the posters near the registration.

  2. Gorgeous day at palmy, but Jesus it was cold. First time I've ever seen a swim course shortened due to water temp. Glad to be finished that one

  3. Good start to the season, interesting to see the temperature dip on the MHL site over the 16th-17th. Having said that it wasn't all that cold - it was the same temperature as a month ago.

Excellent fun nonetheless and thanks to the organisers for opening the race up to the soft meat (all the OS.C amateurs). Now does anyone know where the pictures taken on the start line have got to?

  5. As someone who really feels the cold, the water wasn't as cold as I expected it to be. Maybe that was because it was so cold out in that icy wind. Though I did start to feel the cold towards the end - that wind sure didn't help. Just glad I didn't have any surf craft to worry about. Felt sorry for those who had 'warmed up' as they nearly died from hypothermia waiting on the start line, as the timing mat was retrieved from the wind, we were walked over the timing mat twice and then counted on the start line. Small field so good idea to start us together. Photos are on the Manly Daily site: http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/photos/gallery/palm-beach-2km-ocean-swim/. Results for us non clubbies is at Multi Sport: http://www.multisportaustralia.com.au/results.aspx. Very helpful organisers and excellent water safety (as you would expect).
